The Expoparking carpark, located next to gate 4 of the Brno Exhibition Centre, is part of a major redevelopment of the exhibition complex that dates to the turn of the millennium. In addition to the carpark it included connecting halls via covered walkways, renovating the original Pavilion G, and constructing modern new pavilions (V, F, and P) as well as a hotel with its own congress hall beside the (originally the Holiday Inn, now the Quality Hotel Brno) beside the exhibition centre.
To address the issue of insufficient parking at the Brno Exhibition Centre, the carpark was constructed between two peripheral roads in 2000, offering 890 parking spaces. The architects of this extensive reinforced concrete structure were Petra and Miloš Kabel. The building’s function is made clear through its open individual floors and the entrance ramps, with the architects managing to lessen the ramp’s incline by dividing the carpark into half-floor levels. A contrasting element to the monolithic mass of the building is the lightweight roof above the top floor, supported by a delicate metal frame.
Expoparking is in fact part of the city’s main ring road and directly accessed from the Pisárky tunnel, which serves as the main entry route to Brno from the D1 motorway. It provides well-connected, year-round indoor parking with barrier-free spaces. The total capacity of the carpark is 850 vehicles.
